Amcott House and the Bassetlaw Museum - Conservation Statement
For Bassetlaw District Council

The Brief:

  • Grade II* Listed house - one of few surviving historic buildings representing the prosperous development of the late 18th century market town.
  • Since 1985, home to the local authority-run Bassetlaw Museum
  • Promote community’s sense of pride to engage with the collections and the historic building

Our Solutions:

  • A Conservation Statement to support the future management of the site
  • Development of new interpretation to present locally and regionally important collections and focus on the significance of the historic building
  • Plan for sensitive expansion to extend the buildings, increasing capacity and to fulfil the aspirations of the museum team.
English Heritage commended our work as ‘invaluable’ to the future management of this outstanding Georgian town house.

“Thorough and efficient, the team inspired confidence and really cared about what we are trying to do.”
