Low Newton - Graphic Design
For The National Trust
The Brief:
- One of the best-known examples of an original 'Fisherman's Square', Low Newton, near Alnwick is one of the National Trust's 'honeypot' sites of the spectacular north east coastline, yet had no interpretation to help visitors understand and appreciate the full context of the settlement
- After 3 years of fundraising and generating archive material through community involvement, the Low Newton Warden consulted with PLB to develop and produce interpretive panels for the visitor centre which is open all year, but normally unstaffed
Our Solutions:
- We communicated Low Newton's unique 'sense of place' through its geological, natural and social contexts through attractive images and approachable and factually interesting, with 'layers' to appeal to the variety of visitors to the site
- The simple, practical interpretation has been extremely well received and is the proud centre-piece for the planned opening ceremony, celebrating the community's strong links to its spectacular surroundings
