Interpretive design company PLB has been awarded the exhibition design contract for Preston Hall Museum, Stockton-on-Tees. The £1 million design and implementation project for Stockton-on-tees Borough Council will open in Spring 2012.
The project includes the reinterpretation of the hall itself as well as the Borough's varied collections. PLB are working closely with the museum team to find new ways of presenting the museum's varied collections. The story of the Borough and it's people is just one aspect of the new displays alongside armour and weapons, archaeology and art, social and industrial history.
"This is an exciting new project for PLB" says Creative Director Jamie McCall. "Having completed four exhibitions in 2010, we are ready to tackle this next challenge and to explore how we can reveal the unique and unusual aspects of Stockton's collections."
Dr Jane Hubbard, Service Manager for Museum & Heritage, said ‘These are exciting times for Preston Hall Museum & Park, with an overall redevelopment of £7million currently ongoing. We look forward to working with PLB in creating what we are sure will be an exciting and dynamic interpretation of the story of our region”.
Funding for the project forms part of the overall redevelopment at Preston Hall Museum & Park, and has been made available through both the Heritage Lottery Fund and Stockton Borough Council.
