Ordsall Hall

Ordsall Hall and PLB worked in perfect synergy to fulfil the site’s true potential

Reinvigorating the spirit of Ordsall Hall

By working hand in hand with the team at Ordsall Hall, PLB developed a design which succeeded in bringing to life their original ideas and aspirations for this Tudor mansion, based in Salford. Through a uniquely collaborative process, PLB utilised their interpretive design experience to enhance the team’s wealth of in-depth knowledge creating a passage of discovery through the idiosyncrasies of aristocratic Tudor life.

Guests are encouraged to envision the past through a variety of media: The Great Hall with its projected ghost of Lady Margaret Radclyffe who haunts the Minstrel’s Gallery, the Tudor Kitchen through the realistic reproduction of the food and smells based on the different delicious delights from Tudor times gone-by, and the stunning Star Chamber with its quaint period furniture and interactive traveller’s game.

Visitors are invited to experience sleeping inside a grand four-poster bed and dress up in period costume, so as to re-live the past, before being introduced to The Ghost Cam, which reinvigorates the spirit of Ordsall Hall through interactive and virtual engagement.

“All the team at Salford Heritage Services are really pleased with the final exhibits at Ordsall Hall. We have had nothing but positive feedback about them from all of our visitors. We were impressed by the way that PLB helped the team at Ordsall Hall to shape the vision of the main exhibition. We liked the style of PLB’s initial workshops which helped to formulate our ideas and develop them into reality. PLB delivered on everything we required and the final exhibition exceeded our original expectations”
