St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery

Diverse and interactive storytelling

“The museum has just been renovated and reopened. I first went several years ago and the renovation has really improved it … Well worth a visit especially on a rainy day.”

Visitor, August 2017

Reopened in August 2017. St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery is located in the important Georgian market town and port of Lymington, in a former school house dating back to 1835.

Our interpretive planning services contributed to St Barbe’s successful HLF funding application. PLB were then retained to provide a full redesign and on-time delivery.

The Trust’s vision was to secure the long term future of the museum and art gallery and enhance the public services it provides to Lymington and the New Forest community. The work that PLB undertook was critical in creating a higher profile for St Barbe and delivering increased visitor numbers. In the first 2 months of reopening, the museum reported in excess of 15,000 visitors.
